YouTube Reporting FAQs

What will my listing look like?
Each CMS account will be listed out separately, with the channels listed out underneath CMS account names. Customized aggregations of data from multiple channels can be created underneath partners’ top-line entities. Most of comScore’s existing clients do this already, so as to best represent the different ways they sell their audiences.

What does comScore's YouTube Reporting cover?
YouTube data reporting is inclusive of views that come from embedded YouTube players, as well as views on YouTube.com.

How is this different than YouTube's internal analytics?

comScore's audience measurement tools are accessed by marketers and planners, providing broad audience knowledge across thousands of publishers. Analytics tools are used to guide programmatic and editorial choices and are only accessed by the content creator. Furthermore, comScore has the unique ability to accurately understand demographics, attitudinal characteristics, unique viewers, and other capabilities.

Will this mean more advertising will be run against my content?
This development does not mean that any additional advertising will be run against your content. Rather, it opens up many new opportunities for you to monetize your content with the backing of the most-trusted measurement resource available. What you do with these new opportunities is up to you.

I don’t want my audience to think I am exploiting them to advertisers; how do I ensure this won’t happen?
comScore and YouTube have invested significant time and resources towards ensuring that the data captured, processed, and presented retains the industry-leading privacy and data integrity standards both companies are proud to have helped pioneer. The changes that take place to facilitate partner-level reporting in Video Metrix all happen behind the scenes. Your viewers will be unaware of the changes that have taken place and will benefit from the fact that any monetization efforts you choose to pursue will be more targeted to their collective characteristics and preferences.

Will my audience’s user experience be affected?
No. All of the mechanisms in place to facilitate this reporting occurs on the YouTube server-side, so there will be no affect on your audience’s end user-experience.
